Teachers remain steadfast during MCO, Salute!

As Malaysians stay shuttered at their homes in accordance with the Movement Control Order (MCO), teachers nationwide remained steadfast in their noble duty of bringing up the next generation. Through the implementation and application of modern technologies and the coordination between students, their parents, and teachers, we hope that their studies can continue without too large a hindrance as technology provides a plethora of ways to bypass physical limitations.

Undeniably, the frontliners battling Covid-19: the medical personnel, enforcement authorities, and other service providers, all deserve standing ovations, but teachers are the unsung hero in this episode.

It is crucial to ensure that students use their time during the MCO wisely in pursuit of knowledge. One can even say that such efforts are equally important as the fight against the outbreak, because these students are the key to the future.

Besides that, keeping students engaged can also help alleviate the worries of frontliners and help them focus on their jobs, as their child’s growth is being taken care of.

In these trying times, even though we are met with an unprecedented threat, it is also a chance for us to put aside differences, and have a united goal of getting through this together.

On a related note, it was thoughtful of the Education Ministry to call for teachers to start preparing learning materials for the second phase of MCO starting 1 April 2020 where classes become digitalised.

Just like other people, teachers also have their personal lives to attend to; thus, the journey ahead is one that is shared by students, parents, and teachers alike, one that requires all of us to be compassionate, be considerate, and be cooperative. We can get through this together.
