CAMERON HIGHLANDS: MCA Youth has urged the Tok Batin (orang asli village headmen) who were allegedly threatened by a senator during a dialogue at Pos Betau here to lodge a police report over the incident.
MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong said the senator's alleged action was an offence under Section 9 of the Election Offences Act, which was considered as undue influence.
She said this to reporters after lodging a police report over the matter at the district police station here on Friday night (Jan 11).
It was reported that Senator Bob Manolan Mohamad had during the dialogue threatened the village headmen that the federal government would take away their salaries and sack them if they refused to support Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming Cameron Highlands by-election.
Bob Manolan had denied the incident, saying that he was merely explaining to the Tok Batin to put aside political differences and to work with the federal government for the betterment of the orang asli villages.
According to Wong, MCA Youth was lodging the report to ensure the Cameron Highlands by-election would be fair and clean.
“With the report made, we hope the police and the Election Commission can investigate the matter urgently,” she said.
