MCO: Govt officials no different from rakyat - No one escapes the law

Following the guilty plea by both Deputy Health Minister Dato’ Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali and Perak executive council member Razman Zakaria of which the Magistrate Court had fined them RM1000 each for breaching the MCO, it shows that the enforcement and law in this nation upholds the spirit of justice, treating everyone as equal in the face of the law, be they dignitaries or commoners.

No matter who violates the law, they will have to face the music, a process which is fair, bipartisan, and not liable to coercion by other powers.

MCA stands by the principle that: no one is above the law. Trials must be fair without favouring any party; not only for justice to be upheld, but to also demonstrate to the masses that Malaysia’s judiciary is one they can be confident of and place their trust upon.

With the two elected representatives being fined, it is also a lesson for all to obey the movement control order during this crucial period, perhaps even more so for elected officials wielding high profile federal or state government portfolios. The road to recovery is just ahead, and we hope that all Malaysians will persevere on this journey with one common aim.
