CRSM Launches Community Caring Campaign, Raises Funds to Prepare for Disasters

In conjunction with the International Volunteer Day on December 5th, CRSM will be holding a food truck fundraising event for two consecutive days, as well as a launching ceremony for the community care campaign. The funds raised through GoCare crowdfunding will be donated to flood victims and vulnerable groups by CRSM. Additionally, CRSM Crisis Relief Caring Boxes will be prepared on that day for disaster relief.

According to MCA Secretary-General Datuk Chong Sin Woon, CRSM in all states across the country have already done the necessary preparations, with CRSM Crisis Relief Caring Boxes ready to be sent to aid disaster victims in the event of a disaster.

To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) also reminded non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to seek advice from the Disaster Management Control Center (PKOB) before providing assistance to disaster victims. NGOs are urged to cooperate with PKOB in order to avoid unnecessary wastage and ensure assistance reaches those who needs them. The agency emphasised that NGOs play a critical role in disaster relief, such as providing humanitarian assistance.

Dato' Natalie Lim Chong Ly, CRSM National Chief, emphasised that CRSM and GoCare will be organising a series of community caring activities, including: CNY Calligraphy Charity Sale, New Year Hamper Charity Sale, Painting Charity Sale, StandByYou Charity Dinner, Photography Fundraising Campaign, and so on. Its goals include assisting underprivileged and poor families, raising funds for flood victims, and collecting Chinese New Year angpau’s for single-parent families.

Finally, CRSM established a "Monsoon Flood Disaster Crowdfunding Campaign" through the GoCare crowdfunding network. When disaster strikes, fundraising can be initiated quickly to assist victims in rebuilding their homes. Please visit www.gocare.org.my for more information on donating.
