PETALING JAYA: MCA vice president Senator Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker claims that the Cameron Highlands by-election has exposed the "hypocrisy" of Pakatan Harapan.

He said that contradictory statements were issued by Pakatan leaders in an attempt to cover what he said was "unethical behaviour" in the by-election.

Ti said that many could see pictures in the news and in social media of a woman wearing a Pakatan T-shirt handing out money.

"This was later dismissed as petrol allowance by DAP veteran Arvind Bharet, assistant head of the Jelai PH operations centre," said Ti in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 16).

"There is no problem with a Pakatan Harapan bus ferrying volunteers.

"But the money given earlier was claimed to be petrol allowance for volunteers. How can they take the petrol allowance when they arrived there by bus?" he asked.

Ti pointed out that the GE14 result was nullified due to an Election Court's ruling that the Barisan candidate had bribed voters.

"Based on the same moral high ground, we urge Pakatan Harapan to withdraw from contesting in the by-election and return a clean and undisputed by-election to Cameron Highlands," he said.
