PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has slammed Pakatan Harapan over its "broken promise" to construct or relocate 26 Chinese primary schools (SJKCs).
In a Parliament meeting, Dr Wee had asked about the progress of the construction and relocation of these schools, but was told that Pakatan had axed the construction of five new SJKCs in the 10+6 plan announced by the previous education minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
"She pledged to build or relocate 26 SJKCs, but today her ministry said it is only committing to 12.
"What happened to the rest? Teo Nie Ching needs to explain to the Chinese community," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 16).
He said that this added to "Pakatan's list of U-turns", which included the abolition of toll collection and recognition of the Unified Education Certificate.
"With another by-election around the corner, the constituents of Cameron Highlands should exercise their rights and tell Pakatan that it shouldn't flip-flop on its promises," he said.
