Press statement by MCA Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Dr Pamela Yong

All party disciplinary cases dealt with in accordance with the rules & regulations; Party members must be committed towards upholding MCA's image

All complaints involving party members are handled by the party's Disciplinary Board in a professional and fair manner in accordance with the party's rules and regulations without exception.

The MCA Disciplinary Board's handling of disciplinary cases against MCA Pontian Division Chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and MCA Ledang Division Chairman Dato' Goh Tee Tee, like all other disciplinary cases involving party members, is completely in accordance with the Party Constitution and is decided by the Presidential Council. After an investigation report and the related recommendations are submitted by the Disciplinary Board, once received and after deliberation by members of the Presidential Council, a collective decision will finally be made on the Disciplinary Board's recommendations.

Datuk Tee Siew Kiong claimed that the punishment against him was increased from a membership suspension of one-and-a-half-years to a five-year suspension. This accusation is completely false.

The fact is - the MCA Disciplinary Board originally proposed to the Presidential Council to suspend Datuk Tee Siew Kiong's party membership for three years. However, after deliberation by the Presidential Council, it was determined that his behaviour was a serious violation of party discipline. Hence, all members unanimously agreed and decided that his party membership be suspended and that the period of his suspension from the party membership be increased to five years. At the same time, according to the Party Constitution, he and Dato' Goh Tee Tee have the right to appeal to the Central Committee within 14 days.

It must be emphasised that all party members, regardless of party position, must adhere to party discipline, and simultaneously be committed towards upholding the party's image. Members must not publish or utter any words or perform any action that could jeopardise the party.
