Lim Guan Eng must clarify stand over Oktoberfest ban in Selangor, Melaka & Johor, rather than cowardly dodge

Doubts are raised as to why Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng did not clarify his stand on the prohibition against Oktoberfest in selected states. Although I am not in favour of drinking, at the same time, the constitutional rights granted to non-Muslims must be defended. Lim Guan Eng, a DAP leader with authority, cannot remain silent and stay out of this!

Lim Guan Eng boasted before the 509 general election: Penangites enjoy religious freedom. There is no problem for non-Muslims to drink beer and eat pork in Penang! He must now protest against Pakatan-led Selangor, Melaka and Johor state governments for disallowing the Oktoberfest to be held!

Ever since Lim Guan Eng was appointed into a government position, he seems to have switched his stand. Not only that, he was hesitant in speaking up on issues affecting non-Muslim rights. He also chose to remain silent in key moments to divert public attention from the issues.

Is it because DAP holds position but does not wield any real authority, or the Rocket has abandoned its principles after being elected into government position? All the states that announced a ban on Oktoberfest are dominated by DAP assemblymen. But none of them came forward to stop it or defend the non-Muslim rights. They chose to remain silent, just like the party’s federal leaders! However, when it comes to MCA, even if DAP has almost reached its goal of annihilating MCA, DAP remains aggressive in issuing statements and calling for press conference to lambast MCA.

The DAP has always been a master of "Pitting the Chinese against the Chinese", but it is timid in fending off doubts against non-Muslim rights and dares not resolve the problems and issues incurred.

Under the bright leadership of Lim Guan Eng, DAP has quickly become one of the most ruthless and useless ruling parties in Malaysia's history. It will only remain silent on issues affecting non-Muslim rights and let the matters ferment. Let the Chinese community face up and bear alone.
