The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) continues its flood relief efforts in the northern region (Perlis and Kedah). With the changing phases of the disaster situation, CRSM announced today that the current needs for supplies have shifted, and urged the public to remain highly vigilant against the extreme weather threats brought by Tropical Storm Senyar.
CRSM has been assisting several temporary evacuation centres in Perlis and Kedah, providing aid to a large number of flood victims. CRSM SRT (CRSM Search and Rescue Team) Team Leader Soo Wee Chuan who is currently working on the front lines, reported that supplies of ready-to-eat food and drinking water are relatively adequate in the affected areas. However, two items are now in critical shortage at the temporary evacuation centres (PPS).
Firstly, many PPS centres lack infant and adult diapers, which has caused significant inconvenience and hygiene issues for infants, immobile elderly persons, and flood victims with special needs.
Secondly, there is an urgent shortage of power banks, which victims need to maintain mobile phone power so they can receive external information and stay in contact with their families — an essential tool for stabilising their mental and emotional wellbeing.
Simultaneously, CRSM urges the public to remain on high alert for the extreme weather expected from the approaching Tropical Storm Senyar. According to the latest advisory issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia), the tropical storm is moving into the Strait of Melaka and heading towards the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The system may bring prolonged heavy rain, strong winds, and rough sea conditions along Peninsular Malaysia’s coastal waters. The advisory is in effect from 27 to 29 November 2025.
The affected states include Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor. The public is strongly encouraged to closely monitor official Government weather alerts and flood updates, and to make early preparations for disaster safety.
To meet the changing needs for relief supplies and the challenges of upcoming weather conditions, CRSM is actively seeking wider support through its GoCare crowdfunding platform at https://gocare.org.my/. The public is encouraged to donate cash or provide contributions in-kind based on the latest requirements (especially power banks and infant/adult diapers).
In addition, CRSM will collaborate with corporate partners to organise charity sales, with all proceeds channelled into the disaster relief fund. Logistics companies are also invited to assist with transportation to ensure supplies reach affected areas efficiently.
CRSM once again calls on businesses, organisations, and kind-hearted members of the public to donate generously, focusing support on essential items such as power banks and infant/adult diapers, to ensure that flood victims’ basic living needs and communication access remain uninterrupted.
