PETALING JAYA: MCA has questioned DAP’s sincerity in wanting to end race-based politics when its allies such as Parti Bersatu Pribumi Malaysia and Hindraf thrive on a racial formula.

MCA religious harmony bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker (pic) urged DAP to admit that it was backtracking on its pledge after opting to work with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who wants Pakatan Harapan to be managed along racial lines.

“They (DAP) are now so pally with their nemesis Dr Mahathir that they have subscribed to his racial formula of Pribumi for Bumiputra, Hindraf for Indians, and DAP for Chinese.

“So is DAP genuine in wanting to take away Malaysians from politics along racial lines when they attacked MCA and Barisan Nasional, which are multiracial in spirit and deeds,” Ti said in a statement on Saturday.

Ti also criticised DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang for “kow-towing” to Pribumi president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin after having attacked the latter for his “Malay first, Malaysian second” stance when he was deputy prime minister.

He also pointed out that DAP had also worked with PAS despite the Islamist party’s hardline stance on race and religion.

“What says DAP now? Does the Rocket admit that it has long subscribed to politics along racial lines now that Dr Mahathir is openly managing Pakatan along racial lines.

"Where is DAP's dignity now?” he said.
