I have received Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun’s letter of resignation as MCA Secretary-General. Due to her commitment to pursue her doctorate at Peking University, China, soon, Mei Fun had tendered her resignation during the MCA Central Committee (CC) meeting on 13 July 2019. The CC had agreed to the resignation, which becomes officially effective today.

First and foremost, on behalf of the CC and all members, I must thank Mei Fun for her service to the party for the past eight months.

As the Secretary-General, Mei Fun had been dedicated, cautious and conscientious in going full swing to strategize and push through various party programs, to ensure the speedy return of MCA, which was severely defeated in the general elections, to the right track. She always go all-out to complete any assignments and missions entrusted to her, regardless of whether they are within the scope of Secretary-General or otherwise. We salute her super diligence in striving for perfection.

Among the projects entrusted to her include the drafting of ‘A New Era, A Renaissance: MCA Execution Blueprint (2018-2021)’, aiming to facilitate MCA’s transformation and revitalisation programs. Under her leadership, various programs under the blueprint had been started or implemented, especially the setting up of MCA Government Monitoring Movement, Headquarters departments upgrading and reform, drafting of BN New Charter and so on. In the process, she had shown tremendous strength in her execution ability.

After becoming the opposition last year, MCA had been facing challenges from within and outside the party, including numerous onslaughts from rival parties. And Mei Fun had been standing firm and steadfastly defending the vision and rights of MCA, with facts and figures.

She gives her all for the party, and fears nobody confronting external challenges.

Having accepted her resignation with extreme reluctance, we would like to wish her success in her academic pursuit, and are looking forward to her return to continue serving the party and nation.
