The Pakatan Harapan government should show more responsibility in fulfilling its promises, says MCA Youth secretary Daniel Wa.

He criticised the Pakatan government for not following up with promises made when they won the 14th general election.

“I hope the voters here will teach the Pakatan government a lesson for not fulfilling what they set out to do,” he said at a press conference before joining party secretary-general Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun and MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong for a walkabout at the Cameron Highlands night market near Sungai Ruil here yesterday.

The Jan 26 polls will see Ramli take on Pakatan’s M. Manogaran and two independent candidates, Wong Seng Yee and Sallehudin Ab Talib.

Chew called on Pakatan politicians to be responsible for their promises to the people.

On a separate matter, Wong said MCA has so far obtained about 1,000 signatures to object to the abolition of the death penalty.

“Our target is 100,000. We will continue collecting the signatures until March,” she said.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong had in the Dewan Rakyat last October said the government hoped to table a Bill to abolish the death penalty.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had called for a review of the proposed Bill as the party felt it was too hasty.
