DAP Leaders Sleeping On the Job

Is the DAP afraid to fight for the rights of the Chinese community because of people like  Muhammad Shakir Ameer Mohideen and Sheikh Omar Ali who are in the party? Despite giving the DAP absolute support in the last general election, the Chinese community has yet to get the kind of representation they deserve from the party they so trusted and believed in. Maybe because of the presence of ultra-Malays like former premier, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the DAP has decided to remain silent and not voice any of the problems or grouses faced by the Chinese.

If the DAP is already finding its hands tied and cannot negotiate any better deal for the Chinese even before Dr Mahathir comes into power, then how can the community expect anything better if the Opposition win the general election? In any negotiation, it is surely better to lay your cards on the table before the other party has gained any ground. In the present situation, Dr Mahathir needs the DAP's help if he hopes to assume power in Putrajaya.

However, one can observe that the DAP has obviously adopted a very lackadaisical and "tidak apa" attitude when it comes to the welfare and well-being of the Chinese. Their Chinese leaders have instead opted to remain silent and play dumb when it comes to Chinese-related issues. In doing this, they have pushed all blame and responsibility to the MCA to handle. By conceding and surrendering the welfare and concerns of the community without any guarantee or pledge under Pakatan Harapan's manifesto is truly an irresponsible and risky act.

The continued silence of DAP's Chinese leaders and their act of asking two non-Chinese foot soldiers to try and silence me on this glaring issue is shameless. This act reeks of cowardice and hypocrisy of the highest order. The DAP's statements that they have allegedly allocated an annual budget of RM60 million for the development of new villages and fishing villages is pathetic.

What adds salt to the wound is that their so-called "spokesman" who only spoke on this single issue (to my knowledge) is truly ignorant. DAP's other senior Chinese leaders are seemingly either too embarrassed or just plain lazy to take me on. They fear it may lead to a clear admission of guilt on their part and rather avoid the issue which is glaring at them. They were clearly wrong to state that the government had only allocated RM20 million for this purpose.

For the benefit of those DAP leaders who have all this while been sleeping on the job, let me enlighten you on the correct allocation:

Government's allocation for Chinese New Villages:

10th Malaysia Plan (2011-2015):

Total RM262.26 million

2016: RM89.2 million

2017: RM49.7 million

2018: RM75 million

The total allocation for New Villages is RM476.16 million from 2011 - 2018. The money is among others, used to upgrade the infrastructure in New Villages etc.

It is no wonder that the DAP is now being recognised as a less-racial party compared to the MCA. People like Dr Mahathir know that the MCA has fought hard and long for the interests of the Chinese community compared to the DAP. While the MCA strongly adopts the welfare and interests of the community as our concern, the DAP remains afraid of the Chinese tag because they are of late, crying out to be more "Malay" than Chinese - especially since they are under ultra-Malays like Dr Mahathir and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
