The Malaysia–Indonesia Trade and Political Networking Programme, jointly organised by the MCA Economic & SMEs Affairs Committee, together with the MCA Selangor State Liaison Committee, commenced with a courtesy call to the Embassy of Malaysia in Indonesia.

The delegation, led by Datuk Ir. Lawrence Low, MCA Vice President and MCA Economic & SMEs Affairs Committee Chairman, was received by Puan Rosnita Hamzah, Embassy Adviser and Head of Chancery. Also present were Mr Hairul Reaza, Minister (Political); Mr Ahmad Akmal, Minister (Economic); Mr Hairi Mohd Yakzan, Minister (Tourism); Mr Nor Azuan Jaafar, Customs Adviser; Puan Noor Idayu Mohd Surol, Consular and Immigration Adviser; and ACP Raja Farul Izwan Raja Ismail (Security Liaison Officer - SLO, Royal Malaysia Police -PDRM).

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the latest developments in Indonesia’s economic landscape, business opportunities, and matters concerning Malaysians residing in the country, as well as other related issues.

The delegation subsequently paid a courtesy call to MATRADE Indonesia, an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

In addition to gaining detailed insights into potential trade opportunities in Indonesia, the delegation also broadened its understanding of the investment landscape in a country with a population of approximately 278.8 million.

The delegation was received by Mr Suresh Kumar, Minister Counsellor (Trade) at the Embassy of Malaysia and Trade Commissioner of MATRADE in Indonesia. Also present were Ms Nadiyah Hanim Munir, Assistant Trade Commissioner, and Ms Nena Namira Amedyan, Market Development Manager at MATRADE.

The delegation then met with Mr Sun Shangbin, Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (CCCI) and Chairman of Bank of China Indonesia, along with his team.

Both sides exchanged views, particularly on business sectors with strong potential for exploration and collaboration.
