Press statement by MCA Publicity Spokesperson Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker

Did DAP deliberately reduce the amount of govt allocations for Chinese New Villages to obscure govt & MCA efforts for the Chinese ?

In trying to defend the indefensible Pakatan Harapan Manifesto after our MCA’s exposé that the ethno-centric Manifesto had neglected to address matters involving the Chinese community, the foot soldier DAP despatched had confused fact from fiction.

DAP got that facts wrong by erroneously (or deliberately watered down the figures) claiming that the government’s allocation for Chinese New Villages amounted to only RM20million.

If the Rocket had bothered to research their facts, they would have noticed the Government's allocation for Chinese New Villages:

10th Malaysia Plan (2011-2015): Total RM262.26 million

2016: RM89.2 million

2017: RM49.7 million

2018: RM75 million

The total allocation for New Villages is RM476.16 million from 2011 - 2018. The money is among others, used to upgrade the infrastructure in New Villages, renew or extend lease titles, business start-ups and expansion, repair and refurbish houses and shops.

In MCA state and parliamentary constituencies, cultural walks, food streets, eco-tourism, special attractions have been created, thus promoting tourism and cottage industries to relive the growth momentum of New Villages.

Putrajaya’s allocation has enabled the transformation of New Villages, whereby youths no longer have to desert the New Villages for urban towns and cities in search of greener pastures, but instead are encouraged to delve into entrepreneurship back home given the opportunities which Putrajaya and MCA have generated for them.

It is  bizarre for DAP to send their foot soldier to rebut me, when going by their Secretary General Lim Guan Eng’s illogic, it should be someone of the same or equivalent rank to debate me.
