MCA Youth condemns violence outside UM; Students urged to lodge police reports

MCA Youth is deeply concerned with the fracas that occurred outside Universiti Malaya on 22 Mar 2019, whereby 6 students were dragged into rough physical contact with a group of people during a rally.

1. MCA Youth wishes to stress that Malaysia is a country ruled by law. We severely denounce anyone who resorts to violent methods when engaging with rally goers. Anyone who has grievances with the rally goers should seek legal redress from the relevant law enforcement agencies.

2. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious country. We hope that the masses can understand that a peaceful and stable society is not simple to achieve. We would like to advise all Malaysians, especially politicians and netizens, to not provoke sensitivities between various ethnic groups.

3. Herewith, we also hope that the university students who were attacked will immediately lodge police reports and let the authorities handle the incident impartially. MCA Youth legal bureau avails itself to render legal aid to any of the affected students who require so. We will always defend the spirit and the rule of law, where anyone who is responsible must be held accountable.
