Amendments to party Constitution to enable MCA Youth & Wanita divisonal chiefs auto entry as Central Delegates



MCA HQ, 21 Feb-In conjunction with celebrations for the party’s 68th anniversary celebration on 5 March 2017, MCA will hold an Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly (EGM) a night before, 4 March2017 to allow a series of amendments to be made to the party Constitution. This was announced by MCA President Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai at a press conference after chairing a Presidential Council meeting at Wisma MCA today.

Among the amendments are the automatic appointment of MCA Youth and Wanita chiefs at the branch level to be Divisional Delegates, whilst MCA Youth and Wanita chiefs at the divisional level to be Central Delegates, as well as allowing Vice-Presidents to automatically become members of the Presidential Council. Furthermore, the amendments also seek the setting up on a permanent basis, the MCA School of Political Studies to train party cadres.

Transport Ministry “No” to Dego Ride

On a separate matter, Tiong Lai emphasised that the Ministry of Transport (MOT) will not approve the operation of motorbike ride sharing services Dego Ride in the country. However, Dego Ride has the right to appeal over the decision and state its views, though MOT will not give in unless there is a directive from the Cabinet. The party chief explained “this is because the number of road accidents involving motorcycles is increasingly rapidly and thus road safety is of great priority to MOT.”

Govt responsibility to conduct post mortem on assassinated male

Responding to a question from a journalist the North Korea envoy H.E Kang CHol’s accusation that Malaysia was conspiring with “hostile forces” to damage the Communist’s nation’s reputation, Tiong Lai dismissed the accusation as a “baseless allegation.” He explained that “the government has the responsibility to conduct a detailed investigation into the assassination of a North Korean male reported to be the half-brother of North Korea leader Kim Jong Un. This includes a post mortem.” He further elaborated that the Malaysian government will not hesitate to take stern action against North Korea should persist with this false allegation.
