Recent revelations show severe mismanagement and inefficiency in the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS), as highlighted by Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). This points to a disregard for governance and financial prudence. 

Integration and coordination between Ministries should be enhanced through better inter-ministerial collaboration to streamline efforts and responsibilities, reducing duplication. A centralised authority overseeing systems like FWCMS and ePPAx is essential.

To manage public funds prudently, the government should improve financial oversight mechanisms, including audits and transparent reporting. Strict controls on contract extensions and fee adjustments based on performance metrics and public interest are necessary.

Developing robust vendor management frameworks with clear metrics and penalties for non-compliance is vital. Regular performance assessments will ensure vendor accountability.

Improving transparency in decision-making for major projects and enhancing public engagement and feedback mechanisms are crucial for public accountability.

Investing in training for government officials in project management and IT systems, and exploring advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and transparency, are essential.

These measures aim to restore accountability, optimise resource utilisation, and improve service delivery. The government needs to commit to rectifying past mismanagement and ensuring better outcomes for all stakeholders.
