IPOH: Plans are afoot for a brand new airport to be established at Bota and Lambor Kanan in Perak Tengah.

State Public Transportation Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon (pic) (BN- Chenderiang) said the proposal was to have the airport built on a 4,169 ha (10,321,00 acres) at the Cempaka Sari Industrial Gate.

He said a letter from the Transport Ministry dated Oct 24 accepted the proposal from the state government for the development of a new airport by a private company known as Malaysian Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd.

“So it is wrong for Nga Kor Ming (DAP- Kepayang) to say that the state government did not submit plans for an new airport during the debate,” he told a press conference at the sidelines of the state assembly on Friday (Nov 24).

He said the ministry had replied that there was a proposal from a private company, which was still being studied.

Dr Mah said Nga took part of the answer from the ministry and spun the context as if the state government had not put in an application for a new airport.

“How can a company apply if did not get the green light from the state government,” he asked.
