Enable Health Ministry to focus on fighting Covid-19 pandemic:

Lim Kit Siang must cease pressuring DG Dr Noor Hisham



DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang must immediately stop all unnecessary politicKing and enable the Health Ministry to focus on its primary healthcare at the moment ie curtailing and overcoming the Covid-19 outbreak which is gripping the world. In particular, he must not hinder Health Director General Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Hisham at his work.

The Iskandar Puteri MP had earlier urged the Health Director General to clarify if the Health Ministry had advised against the holding of Parliamentary meetings, including a virtual Parliament and Select Committee meetings to exercise oversight and scrutiny of government measures in the Covid-19 pandemic, and propose a one-day meeting on May 18?

Dr Noor Hisham and the entire Health Ministry are over-stretched in counter-contagion efforts. These noble efforts are easily witnessed by the public.

Is it necessary for Kit Siang to come up with hypothetical scenarios which requires precious time to be spent addressing them?

The long-time politician is welcomed to carry out a good job for his constituency. Cast playing politics aside, and halt dragging the Director General into his pathetic political games.

As the government is fully engaged in vanquishing this pandemic, Pakatan Harapan should perform better rather than churning out non-constructive rhetoric. These meaningless meanderings waste the invaluable time of the Health Ministry and the public.

In such unusual circumstances of battling the coronavirus, the Prime Minister and Parliamentarians have important counter-pandemic and relief works to deal with. Regrettably, for personal political mileage, the DAP supremo has issued numerous statements, urging the Prime Minister to convene the Dewan Rakyat to debate on the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package. He also asked the premier to discuss about a virtual Parliament. His latest statement now drags Dr Noor Hisham into the political realm. Is Kit Siang really serving the rakyat or advancing his own political points?
