Press statement by MCA Publicity Spokesperson Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker

Aren’t we supposed to stop political indoctrination?

It comes as no surprise that DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng seems to have forgotten that we should not indoctrinate the young since his hypocrisies has been laid bare yet again.

Initially, Lim refused to even debate the issue of the Penang undersea tunnel, even refused to admit that he has had a relationship with a Datuk Seri now being investigated or trying to bribe the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

And just last weekend, Lim decided it was okay to become even more hypocritical by inviting kids to sing along against the Goods and Services Tax (GST). I find this personally hypocritical because Pakatan has constantly made their ire for Biro Tatanegara (BTN) known, even accusing it as government brainwashing.

In fact, it is even in the so called Pakatan Manifesto that they seek to end the BTN once and for all. As such, why is Lim doing the exact same thing with underage children on the separate end of the spectrum?

Are kids now fair play for political indoctrination by all political parties, or is this a privilege just reserved for DAP?

If we truly seek fair politics, then children should be exempt from any political messaging, including being taken to the streets in protest and even hate speech forums. Yet, it seems there is no end to Pakatan and DAP’s hypocrisy on this matter.

If we truly seek mature politics, then children and their parents alike should be told why the GST exists, how it works, and why the prices of goods went up due to the sabotage of traders and a more transparent tax system.

Instead, Lim and the DAP would prefer to just gloss everything using oversimplification and singing it to Malaysian children to instil hatred for the country and the government.

Is this truly the act of the once touted honourable leader who wished for more debates, an exclusion for the young from politics, and pushing for a clean and transparent government without corruption?

It seems that the DAP and Lim in particular may have forgotten all of these and his roots among Malaysian voters who have supported him for a decade. In fact, it seems that power has corrupted him beyond even being held accountable for his actions.

While Malaysians will vote their choice of politician or political party come the 14th General Election, children will in fact bear such propaganda and hold on to it for ages to come. And what if the future government abolished the GST and reintroduced it?

It would then be the same as how Pakatan has made its humongous U-Turn after 20 years into accepting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed. It would be the same as Dr M suddenly saying anything and everything, contradicting his past actions from Projek IC to arresting and sacking Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy.

And when such happens, will Lim bear the blame or push it onto someone else? Will he own up to it and be accountable, or be like the case of the Penang undersea tunnel and blame everyone else but himself.

We know voters are not stupid, especially the youth. They will see that Lim is being hypocritical by doing exactly the same thing as the BTN which his coalition wishes to abolish. And sooner or later, they will hold him accountable for it.
