26 May 2017; at 11 am, M Floor, Wisma MCA

The 2nd Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia (BAFM), scheduled to be held at Wisma MCA in August 2017, will see 20 renowned cultural and arts bodies assembling to participate, injecting fresh ideas to Malaysia’s largest Chinese-based culture and arts event. These activities are too meaningful to skip.

MCA Secretary-General cum Minister of International Trade and Industry II Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan graced the ceremony today to present the certificates of appointment to the arts exhibitors and artists.

The second edition of the BAFM will be the largest ever culture and arts event organised by the Malaysian Chinese community. Running from 1st through 31st August 2017 to commemorate National Day (Hari Merdeka), BAFM aims to highlight Malaysians’ love for our culture, arts, and the nation, to render the National Day celebrations more meaningful.

The inaugural BAFM last year culminated with unprecedented success and galvanised the organisers to host this second edition. In addition to the pioneer group of participating artists and exhibitors, this year’s BAFM has attracted new groups making the 2017 Festival more diverse and lively.

The exhibitors at the BAFM 2017 are highly accomplished in their works and there are more diverse forms of paintings this year compared to last year. Even more exceptional are the many celebrated artists from China invited to participate, among them, Cheah Sek Meng– a famous painter whose forte is painting flowers and birds of the contemporary Yap Hong Ngee , talented oil painter Low Kong Wen and other artists.

Additionally, there are collections from the Rare Stone Association (plse chk actual name) which will showcase unusual jade pieces. Thus, this exhibition promises greater fulfilment and enjoyment of the art.

In addition to the presence of local celebrities, we have also invited new artists such as Yew Chin Yih, Chong Sin Mun to participate, as well as institutes of higher learning: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and the Malaysian Institute of Art, are among the exhibitors.

To create a conducive environment for appreciation of art, BAFM has been allocated the spacious Banking Hall as well as the Mezzanine Floor of Wisma MCA, and exhibits will be changed every week. Therefore, the public will have the opportunity to view different art pieces weekly.

The MCCACC is also honoured to invite (who is this? Name?), the teacher of famous calligrapher Wang Ya, to visit the venue.

Exhibitors led by Datuk Sim Tiak Choo, as well as artists, emerging artists, and representatives from 20 arts organisations attended the inauguration ceremony.

The participating groups and artists include Sketchwalk Kuala Lumpur, Klang Artists Association, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Alumni Association Malaysia, Negeri Sembilan Art Society, Cao Tang Men Eastern Arts Society (CTM), Klang Valley Calligraphers & Painters Association, Malaysian Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association, Malaysia Chinese Brush Painting Art Society, Malaysian Stone Lover Society, Malaysian Artists’ Society or Persatuan Pelukis Malaysia (PPM), 1Malaysia Artistes Association, Angkatan Pelukis SeMalaysia (APS),

Yap Hong Ngee, Cheah Thien Soong, Cheah Sek Meng, Low Kong Wen, Chong Sin Mun

Yew Chin Yih, University Tunku Abdul Rahman, and the Malaysian Institute of Art.

In addition to the arts exhibition, BAFM will also organise various arts activities, from arts performances by local and international performers, culture and folk activities, visual arts, street performances, Chinese crafts, photography exhibition, and others.
