If Nazri has guts like a real man, he would apologise to Robert Kuok & MCA Sec-Gen for his uncouth slurs

MCA HQ, 28 Feb-To put a rest on the verbal fracas created by Tourism and Culture Minister Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz’s petulant remarks on Malaysia’s sugar king Robert Kuok and our party’s Secretary General Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan, MCA Youth National Chairman Datuk Chong Sin Woon at a press conference reaffirmed the party’s stance in defending the Chinese business icon, and in so-doing taking to task the insult by the Padang Rengas MP against the tycoon which is akin the Chinese community as a whole.

‘’All of us have the freedom of speech, and Nazri has the right to criticise anyone. But it is the way he criticised, the words he chose,” explained Sin Woon before advising, “he has to be careful with choosing the right words, so as to not insult or hurt the feelings of others including the Chinese community. Saying things like ‘pondan’ only reflect one’s uncouth manners and is uncalled for. As a Minister, he should find out more factual information before commenting, instead of just referring to one blogger’s remarks,’’ elaborated Sin Woon on the insults felt by the Chinese community over Nazri’s comment earlier.

Adding that “Robert Kuok is no ordinary person, and in fact, he has earned the highest respect of the Chinese community not only in Malaysia, but around the world,” the Deputy Education Minister educated Nazri that he should not demean anyone, common persons included.  “Nazri Aziz has picked the wrong person to criticise. Not to mention that there is no actual proof that the well-respected tycoon has supported the opposition in any way.”

Why single out Robert Kuok when the blogger has blogged on so many topics over the 10 years? This question was posed by Sin Woon, which suggested that Nazri had reasons known only to him to pick on Robert Kuok, and in so doing, had berated the Chinese community.

“I have read Nazri’s remarks, saying that he will not apologise. If Nazri has the guts, please show to all of us by apologising like a real man. Refusing to apologise only reflects his bad manners and this has brought down the political standards,” conveyed the MCA candidate for the Seremban parliamentary seat in repudiating the obstinacy of Nazri.

Sin Woon questioned as to why Nazri did not channel Ministry funds through BN representatives but leveraged on the Opposition instead. “It is no hidden secret that Nazri has been channelling allocations from his Ministry to several non-governmental organisations through the opposition. It is also a well-known fact that he is very close to the opposition leaders,'' revealed Sin Woon on the close friendship between Nazri and the opposition.

He also expressed his amazement that Nazri did not authenticate facts, and that given his close friendship with the Opposition, it is Nazri who is in a better position to know if the Opposition received funding from the mogul, "His working very closely with the opposition is very well known."

In response to a journalist question on MCA Youth’s views on the Prime Minister’s comment yesterday that successful businessmen like Robert Kuok owed it to government policies to gain profits through monopoly businesses, Sin Woon said: ‘‘It is undeniable that government policies plays a role in helping the businessmen to monopolise certain businesses from the start. But not many can reach what Robert Kuok achieved today without grit and hard work. In fact Shangri-La Hotel chains that he built were pride of Malaysia, and quality assurance to those seeking accommodation while travelling.”
