Press statement by MCA Selangor State Liaison Chairman Dato’ Ng Chok Sin

Selangor Sultan’s concern over corruption in the state a stern reminder for everyone to shun bribery, CBT & power abuse

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah yesterday expressed his disappointment following reports of corruption in multi-million projects involving high ranking Selangor state officers. Besides that, the Selangor Ruler also warned that state awards conferred upon government officials or politicians who have been found guilty of graft will be withdrawn.

The stern rebuke by the Selangor Sultan shows that the Selangor Ruler does not take corruption and criminal breach of trust lightly, because these vices are a betrayal of the state officers’ vow to serve the Rakyat.

In the fight against corruption, all Malaysians must stand firm in our daily lives against all forms of temptation to bypass restrictions and opportunities to gain unfair advantage. It is only when the culture of bribery is looked down upon and rejected, that Malaysia can truly be free from such practices.

The Selangor Pakatan State Government is urged to pay extra attention to the Sultan’s warning, and ensure proper measures are in place to reduce the chances of state officers committing graft, either through utilising a more transparent process, or by conducting regular checks on the due process.
