Applications for PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia will close this month, eligible varsity students should not miss this opportunity

Applications for the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia programme opened back in April this year, to aid B40 students in their tertiary studies. In the first phase, 350,000 applications were received, while applications for Phase 2 will be opened until the end of September.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri announced earlier this month that recipients of the PerantiSiswa programme do not need to return the tablet after completing their studies.

This programme coordinated by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Higher Education is in line with the nation’s push towards advancing education through digitalisation. By making these devices available for low-income families, all students can participate more actively in online and digital learning, thereby enhancing their internet fluency and digital acumen.

Initially, only students enrolling in public and private higher education institutions were allowed to apply for the device. However, for Phase 2, it has been expanded to also include students enrolling at Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG) and matriculation colleges.

Upon application, applications will be approved based on information in the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia database. Some of the requirements include: Malaysian citizen, full-time student from B40 family, and have never received any other devices under government assistance programmes.

I urge students in their tertiary studies to take advantage of this opportunity and widen their horizons by learning new skills which are important for the increasingly digitalised future. For more information, visit: https://perantisiswa.kkmm.gov.my.
