Floods have ravaged six states in Malaysia, the worst affected areas being Kelantan and Terengganu. As a friend of the National Disaster Management Agency (Rakan NADMA), the CRSM has fully activated its disaster relief operations, mobilising all available resources to assist those affected by the floods.

CRSM volunteers and our Elite Team have already been deployed to the severely affected areas in Kelantan and Terengganu. They are utilising rescue boats, four-wheel-drive vehicles, and other disaster relief equipment to carry out flood rescue operations. Additionally, numerous volunteers have been mobilised to distribute supplies of dry foodstuffs, assist with evacuations, and provide aid to those in need during this difficult period. Furthermore, the CRSM plans to carry out post-flood cleaning operations once the waters recede.

CRSM has 12 rescue air boats on standby nationwide, with 3 already deployed for disaster relief. If the situation worsens, the remaining boats will be dispatched as needed. Learning from from previous disaster relief efforts, CRSM has been on prepared mode since July. All volunteers have undergone training and are ready to engage in humanitarian rescue operations at any time.

Additionally, the CRSM has received a request for assistance from the Besut Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), which sought help to evacuate local residents in the event of severe floods. The Bomba has also invited the CRSM to prepare airboats, boat engines, and life vests for disaster response. The CRSM has visited the Bomba to assess the situation and is ready to provide support when necessary.

Meanwhile, all residents in low-lying areas are gently reminded to remain alert and to ensure that they are in possession of sufficient essential supplies. Residents are also  urged to heed the instructions of the authorities and evacuate when necessary during the floods.

Meanwhile, we call on more individuals, in particular, young adults to be imbued with compassion. Come join the ranks of CRSM and participate in meaningful community service. Individuals who have an interest in community services may contact the following hotline: 03-2203 3979, or visit the CRSM Facebook page “CRSM HQ 马华志工团” for more details.

Additionally, in an effort to raise awareness among the public, the CRSM leverages on Facebook to convey real-time updates on the flood situation and weather forecasts, as well as to share important flood relief information.
